What sets D’Urban Elephant apart from other guest houses in the area is the size and spaciousness of this grand old Edwardian property. Elephants would find enough space and tranquillity to roam here (they once did!) while urbanites appreciate the proximity of the host of convenient city amenities. The panoramic views of Durban and the Indian Ocean also make this elegant old property, with its big rooms and high ceilings, unique.
D’Urban Elephant guest house offers stylish, affordable and comfortable accommodation in one of the best areas of Durban.
We are within walking distance of the University of KwaZulu-Natal (main campus) and have easy access to the other campuses. There are three shopping centres nearby (Davenport, Glenwood Village and Musgrave Centre) and a host of good restaurants e.g. Hemingways, Yozzies, etc. The KZNSA art gallery is within easy walking distance and we are a few minutes by car from the Durban University of Technology and the Medical School of UKZN.
Our affordable rates reflect our commitment to serving the academic, N.G.O., medical and other communities who have supported us so well since we opened our doors. We offer reduced rates to researchers or others staying for a month or more. Our convenient self-catering options also distinguish us from other guest houses. There are a number of communal areas, including a lounge with a well stocked library of books with a large collection of (old) African history books. As every bedroom has an outside door and its own private patio, you will never feel confined, or forced to interact with other guests,
should you wish to be private.
